"Epic" is based on a triadic ostinato figure that I heard Martin play, and then I started writing the melody to this song on my own. It wasn’t until Martin visited me at my home in Fairfax, California that we decided to finish this entire song in one day. Martin only had two hours of sleep the night before, but we were determined to finish the song.
